Daft Punk's Works

Daft Punk was involved in many projects, any of which include the use of their image, music, or both. An example if a use of their image would be their compilation of music videos titled "D.A.F.T.: A story about Dogs,Androids, Firemen, and Tomatoes". The peculiar title was based off what was featured in the videos: dogs from "Da Funk" and "Fresh", androids from "Around the World", firemen from "Burnin" and tomatoes from "Revolution 909".

Another project that featured their music, not just as its soundtrack, but its whole audio for the animation would be "Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem". This animation, which was animated under the supervision of manga drawer Leiji Matsumoto, used the album "Discovery" to animate scenes using each track of the album. It was a sci-fi animation that had a plot, but used Daft Punk's music for audio.

A project that used Daft Punk's image as a robot is "Daft Punk's Electroma", in which "Hero Robot" no 1 and 2 were Bangalter and de Homem-Christo's robot image. The robots try to become humans, but fail and run away in exile.

Although Daft Punk's projects are mainly films, they also have worked with Freestyle Games and Activision to put themselves in the game "DJ Hero", in which they have their own venue, playlist, and characters to play.

A recent project of theirs was working on the soundtrack for the movie "Tron: Legacy". This includes the tracks "Derezzed" and "End of Line". The duo also make an appearance in the movie in one scene where they work as disc jockeys t the End of Line club.

Daft Punk's projects would also include such things as advertisements. They have advertised for GAP clothing, Cartoon Network's Toonami time slot, Sony Ericsson and them promtoting the Premini Phone, and Adidas and their line of Star-Wars themed clothing. All of which used their image, music or both.

Daft Punk has also produced music for other artists. They have produced the Teriyaki Boyz debut single "Hertbreaker" on their album "Beef or Chicken?", which contains a sample of the single from Daft Punk "Human After All". Later on they produced N.E.R.D.'s song "Hypnotize U". These projects Daft Punk has done, deal a variety of tasks to them, but all of which use 2 things: their image and music.

Image and Evolution

Daft Punk is known for having a robot-themed appearance, in which they wear trademark helmets that they are known for wearing. While there were suggestions on changing their images, they had kept the helmets as it was more practical and lets them keep their identities hidden. They wear helmets to hide their identity as to avoid stardom and live a normal life.

The duo consider Daft Punk to be a "matter of timing and creativity", instead of a job. Daft Punk goes through great lengths to keep their identities concealed. They rarely give out interviews, but on the occasion they do, they always cover thier faces to avoid being revealed and to keep a normal lifestyle.

Even though thier faces aren't seen often, the mystery of their identity builds up to their popularity as music artists. These costumes, however,  were the result of shyness. To make things safer for them, their special helmets that they wear aren't for sale anywhere but from them. Unless you make your own replicas, you would have to buy it from them costing $65,000, plus provided permissions the buyer would have to go through. . . This is so as to keep their helmets from going mainstream. Also, it is impractical to mass produce such helmets because of the cost of labor and the amount of time it takes to make a helmet is too much to market.

The Duo like to be different from the rest of the artists in the music industry as "all the rock n' roll poses and attitudes-they are completely stupid and ridiculous today".
Even though Daft Punk keeps the helmet look, they also update those looks. This could be an "evolution" to their image. These images update to certain albums/time periods and is mainly just changing the appearance of their helmets. From 1999-2004, their first generation of helmets came along with their album: "Discovery". This included Bangalter's silver helmet and de Homem-Christo's LED-heavy gold helmet. This would be considered their "Discovery Era". In between the "Discovery Era" and the "Human After All Era", there were the "Transition" helmets which had slight changes to thier helmets but their gloves were the same. In their "Human After All Era" (2004-2008), thier helmets became more bold and to that time period, their glove got a more chrome finish. In 2010-Now, after the release of "Tron: Legacy" would be their "Post-Tron Era". These helmets were more futuristic and themed to Tron. With these evolutions, this shows that Daft Punk was versatile and could change/update their image in given time periods of their career.
